LuRe Background Music
UPDATED, 17 Oct: Added the music from June 30th when Reid is drinking alone at Yo’s.
UPDATED, 11 Oct: I just realized that the songs for the Dallas bar scene are mostly recognizable…and there are three of them! They were similar enough so it didn’t really occur to me until I tried to figure out what they are. I also added lyrics for all the songs.
I’m not sure if this will apply to Luke and Reid or not as I don’t recall a lot of background music (and not much screentime either). But the Otalia fanbase put together an awesome listing of music used in their scenes.
Click here to see what I have in mind.
Otalia had the benefit of both a longer relationship (over a year, I think), more episodes once they got going, and a lot more background music with lyrics. Then again, they never got a real on-screen kiss (the ambush "Jane Jane" kiss doesn’t really count), so maybe there won’t be as many options for LuRe. Ones I know so far:
- April 22nd (Dallas, Day 2 at the Western Bar) – Eight Second Ride | Jake Owen (playing as they walk in)
Come on
I said, "Hey girl, what’s your name?
Haven’t I seen you before?
I recognize them dark green eyes
When you walked through the door""Are you alone, or are you with someone?"
She said, "As a matter of fact I’m not"
So I took her hand, that’s when it all began
And we headed towards the parking lotAnd she said, "Hey boy, do you mind
Taking me home tonight?
‘Cause I ain’t never seen a country boy
With tires on his truck this high"I said, "Climb on up, but honey watch the cup
That I’m spitttin’ my dip inside
And hold on tight ’cause it’s gonna be wilder
Than any eight second ride"We went ridin’ around rockin’ to the sound
Of "A Country Boy Can Survive"
And I knew then she was my kinda girl
‘Cause she was singin’ every single lineThen she slid on over put my hand on her shoulder
And I asked her what she wanted to do
She said, "It really don’t matter where we go
Just as long as I’m ridin’ with you"She said, "Hey boy, do you mind
Taking me home tonight?
‘Cause I ain’t never seen a country boy
With tires on his truck this high"I said, "Climb on up, but honey watch the cup
That I’m spitttin’ my dip inside
And hold on tight ’cause it’s gonna be wilder
Than any eight second ride"So we headed out to Old Tobacco Road
Put the tailgate down and we made love
She said "A true country boy is hard to find
But I found one wilder then any eight second ride"She said, "Hey boy, do you mind
Taking me home tonight?
‘Cause I ain’t never seen a country boy
With tires on his truck this high"I said, "Climb on up, but honey watch the cup
That I’m spitttin’ my dip inside
And hold on tight ’cause it’s gonna be wilder
Than any eight second ride"Yeah, hold on tight because it’s gonna be wilder
Than any eight second ride
- April 22nd (Dallas, Day 2 at the Western Bar) – Crazy Town | Jason Aldean(plays as Luke rides the bull)
Roll into town, step off the bus
Shake off the where, you came from dust
Grab you guitar, walk down the street
Sign says Nashville Tennessee
But I have foundIt’s a crazy town, full of neon dreams
Everybody plays, everybody sings
Hollywood with a touch of twang
To be a star you gotta bang, bang, bangBend those strings till the hank comes out
Make all the drunk girls scream and shout
We love it, we hate it, we’re all just trying to make it
In this crazy townPay your dues and you play for free
And you pray for a honky tonk destiny
You cut your teeth in the smokey bars
And live off the tips from a pickle jar
‘Til find a cool new sound and you smile
When the record man shoots you downIt’s a crazy town, full of neon dreams
Everybody plays, everybody sings
Hollywood with a touch of twang
To be a star you gotta bang, bang, bangBend those strings till the hank comes out
Make all the drunk girls scream and shout
We love it, we hate it, we’re all just trying to make it
In this crazy townOne year they repossess your truck
And the next you make a couple million bucksIt’s a crazy town full of neon dreams
Everybody plays, everybody sings
Hollywood with a touch of twang
To be a star you gottaBend those strings till the hank comes out
Make all the drunk girls scream and shout
We love it, we hate it, we’re all just trying to make it
We love it, we hate it, we all came here to make it
In this crazy town, it’s a crazy town
- April 22nd (Dallas, Day 2 at the Western Bar) – Hey Country | Montgomery Gentry (including the epic whoa-oh-oh-oh as Reid takes his turn on the bull)
Shotguns, halter tops
A Firebird from a chop shop
A six pack of ice cold bud
Screaming at the cop
Hey, need another cold one
Can’t ya see, can’t ya see
What that woman been doing to meWell, that’s Jay in the backseat
Marshall tucker singing on the CD
He’s a hick, hey just like meHey, country fresh off the farm
Hey, country, look at that cowboy hat
Hey, country, everybody sing
Oh, oh, oh, oh, ohCheck it out, a small town, busted dreams
Turned eighteen, joined the marines
Get a crewcut, a tattoo
Tell your girlfriend you’ll be right back
Give or take a war or two
Bootcamp, pushups
You get a gun and ya muscle up
I don’t know but I been told
I don’t know but I’ve been toldHey, country fresh off the farm
Hey, country, look at that cowboy hat
Hey, country, everybody sing
Oh, oh, oh, oh, ohTwo years an ex wife later
I got a job patching up radiators
And the occasional fuel pump
Saving up, moving to the city
There I was working on a TuesdayWhen a firebird showing his age
Pulled up to the middle bay
Whatta ya know, it’s JayHey, country fresh off the farm
Hey, country, look at that cowboy hat
Hey, country, everybody sing
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
- May 20th (Luke and Reid at Yo’s) – This Ain’t Goodbye | Train
You and I were friends from outer space
Afraid to let go
The only 2 who understood this place
And as far as we know
We were way before our time
As bold as we were blind
Just another perfect mistake
Another bridge to take
On the way of letting go,This ain’t goodbye
This is just where love goes
When words aren’t warm enough to keep away the cold
This ain’t goodbye
It’s not where our story ends
But I know you can’t be mine, not the way you’ve always been
As long as we’ve got time
Then this ain’t goodbye
Oh no, this ain’t goodbyeWe were stars up in the sunlit sky
No one else could see
Neither of us ever thought to ask why
It wasn’t meant to be
Maybe we were way too high
To ever understand
Maybe we were victims of all the foolish plans
We began to deviseBut this ain’t goodbye
This is just the way love goes
When words aren’t warm enough to keep away the cold.
This ain’t goodbye
It’s not where our story ends
But I know you can’t be mine
Just like the way you’ve always been
As long as we’ve got time,
This ain’t goodbye,
Oh no, this ain’t good bye, oh oh, oh no this ain’t goodbye
This ain’t goodbyeYou and I were friends from outer space
Afraid to let go
The only two who understood this place
And as far as we knowThis ain’t goodbye
Oh no this ain’t goodbye
This ain’t goodbye oh no this ain’t goodbye
This ain’t goodbye
It’s just the way love goes
But where’s that woman now, to keep away the cold, oh no?
This ain’t goodbye
This isn’t where the story ends
But I know you can’t be mine
Like the way you’ve always been
This ain’t goodbye
- June 30th (Reid drinking alone at Yo’s talking to Bob on the phone) – Goodbye | Greg Laswell
It was really nice to meet you, goodbye
It’s high time, I quit wondering why
Cause I have lost all that I can from my side
And when you think of me again know I tried
I tried
Goodbye ( ooOOhh ) ( ooOOhh)Forgive me while I lay here
But I have nowhere else to be
I figure when I leave this time Its for keeps
And when I say good morning next, Ill lie
Ill lie
This is goodbye ( ooOOhh ) ( ooOOhh )I’ll only lay the day
I cant remember you at all
And its not easy to say that day is already come and gone
And all that remains is a place where you no longer areOne day I wont regret this
Oh how I want to believe that’s true
Once I pick up my parts I broke on you
Ill get used to the idea its not you
Not you
Goodbye
- June 30th (Luke and Reid talking at LilyPad) – If the Moon Fell Down | Chase Coy and Colbie Caillat
Every time I see your smile
It makes my heart beat fast
And though it’s much too soon to tell
I’m hoping this will last
’Cause I just always wanna have you right here by my side
The future’s near but never certain
At least stay here for just tonightI musta done something right
To deserve you in my life
I musta done something right
Along the wayI just can’t get you off my mind
And why would I even try?
‘Cause even when I close my eyes
I dream about you all the time
I just always wanna have you right here by my side.
The future’s near but never certain
So please stay here for just tonight.I musta done something right
To deserve you in my life
I musta done something right
Along the wayAnd even if the moon fell down tonight
There’d be nothing to worry about at all Because you make the whole world shine
As long as you’re here everything will be alrightI musta done something right
To deserve you in my life
I musta done something right
Along the way
