For those of you wondering what I’ve been up to, I’ve had a few things stuck in my fangurling queue that I’m finally finishing up. Top priority has been to make good on my promise to Marsabi to deliver on a LiveJournal (noah_who) auction for Japan video. And here it is! Finally!

For those of you paying attention, you’ll find that this is my first foray into Vimeo. As it turns out, the audio track was blocked by YouTube in the US, making it somewhat less than useful! I even tried downloading the track from a pre-existing YouTube video and tweaking the speed, but it was still rejected.

So, the good news is, Vimeo seems to offer superior picture quality. The bad news is that it seems to be really slow to buffer in HD, so I’d suggest watching with HD turned off, or waiting until the buffer is full before trying to play (click the Play triangle, and immediately push Pause and wait for the gray bar to fill up the screen before playing the video all the way through).

I’ve adored this song since I watched John Cusack’s aspiring kickboxer serenade his sweetheart-wannabe with his boombox, and with my never-ending fascination with everything Luke and Reid, it was one that definitely reminded me of them.

In the wake of yesterday’s OCCUPANT release date announcement, Van posted on his Facebook (about 4am GMT, roughly mid-evening Pacific time, I think) that he’s booked another short. Hopefully it will be on a faster distribution schedule than OCCUPANT! Here, you can read it for yourself:

Squee!!!! Can I say I’m excited to have news on the OCCUPANT front (an indie horror thriller starring Van Hansis)?!?!?!

Back in December, I had contacted Blair Rosenfeld, Producer of OCCUPANT Films, LLC, as part of a Christmas initiative that may yet see the light of day. At any rate, I had been meaning to get back in touch, and when Van put out his call for Occupant publicity, it gave me the kick in the keister I needed to check in again.

Specifically, I asked about release dates, festivals (especially given how well Stuffer and Silent House have done getting accolades and distribution respectively), and what fans can do to help.

So here is Blair’s reply:

Thanks for getting back in touch. As it stands, Warner Brothers will be distributing OCCUPANT digitally in North America to up to 100 million households starting October 18th. The US DVD will also be available on that date. We will be looking for international distribution as we move forward.

Regarding festivals, the bulk of the best ones for our film (thriller/horror genre festivals) will be taking place this fall/winter. As a result of our October release, it is not clear if it will be worthwhile for to go that route as well but we are keeping an open mind at this point.

Any support you could provide for getting our release date out there would be great. Even for the DVD as the more people put it in their queue (i.e., at Netflix) the better. Voting for the film on IMDB is also very helpful.

So there you have it. Having heavy hitter Warner Brothers involved has to be a good thing. Just keeping my fingers crossed that there will be some option for overseas fans soon, too.

• Vote for Occupant on IMDb and add it to your Watchlist
• When you can, add the DVD to your queue at Netflix (ltklo at ESS.com astutely already tried and found it wasn’t yet available on Netflix; I checked back with Blair who confirmed this, adding “Hopefully it will be up soon.” Either way, it cannot be done by those of us overseas, so we’re SOL on this front.)
• Like OCCUPANT on Facebook
• Check out the OCCUPANT website where you’ll find cast bios, publicity stills, and links to clips
• Watch the trailers and interviews on the official Vimeo site
• Follow @occupantfilms onTwitter
• And, of course, mark October 18th on your calendars! 🙂

Incidentally, WeLoveSoaps’s Roger Newcomb is featuring last November’s interview with Van Hansis as one of “My Favorite Interviews from Season 2 of WE LOVE SOAPS TV”. The interview was filmed shortly after Van moved to Los Angeles and Van talks extensively about OCCUPANT as well as his career, the end of ATWT, and his move to LA.

Thanks to TeamLure over at the SoapCentral.com boards (I think you have to be registered to follow) who has been recapping during an anniversary re-watch. As smuchshypush describes today’s Pygmalion-themed episode, “Luke tries to help Reid with his people skills; major flirting ensues.” Word.

I could never decide if I loved or merely liked this episode. It was hysterical and adorable, but also took LuRe (and Reid especially) really far – perhaps TOO far – down the path of caricature (but then again, look at Henry!). Either way, it does bring back fond memories!

At any rate, enjoy it for what it is– and remember to smile! 🙂

Almost Kisses. Reid and Luke return from Dallas and try to have a quiet night in, but fate (and the network sponsors) step in to intervene in the form of pizza delivery boys and pagers. Nevertheless, they make an effort to get closer before Reid is called away and Luke returns to the Lilypad to let Noah know he’ll be there for the surgery…as a friend.
