Here’s the thing Mr Snyder – I don’t want to bond with you. And unlike you, I don’t feel obligated to spill my guts all over whoever happens to be within range.

Please ignore. Just rebuilt my laptop and Windows Live Writer is doing all sorts of awful funky things with my previews (putting body text over the header for starters).

Van Hansis in Holland

Martha Byrne has posted a photo of the ATWT cast members attending this weekend’s event in Utrecht. They are apparently all there already (I think one of the Dutch RTL hosts tweeted they had dinner together).

And in case you haven’t heard, I’ll be there!  I don’t have my ticket yet (@#*$&^#@$&ing thing is lost in the mail), but I think the fabulous organizers have sorted it out for me – will keep my fingers crossed!  I don’t think photos or video are allowed during the event, but I’ll tweet if I can get my phone to work without costing and arm and leg (and fingers, since it’s a lousy cheapo phone), and will post an event report as soon as I can.

More soon!…

P.S. Re: Eric Sheffer Stevens in Silent House (Sundance Festival Premiere)

I’m just going to copy this direct from what I posted on the ESS forum:

We have a date and time! And OMG, it’s REALLY early in the Festival – Friday 21 Jan at 2:30pm (the first full day of screenings)! I thought it was only going to be a midnight showing.

It’s definitely on again on January 26th at 10pm and Saturday January 29th at 11:59pm (one of the final showings). All three times are showing as "wait list only" so it looks like it’s popular. I gotta believe that they would only put it early to generate good buzz and late to close with a bang, so I’m guessing it’s gotta be good!

And the sooner it shows there….

For more info, or to see the full Sundance showings timetable:

 • Browser version (with info on purchasing/wait list)
 • The print version (works much better, and less tantalizing to those who live WAY too far away to consider trekking out to the beautiful Rockies…)

Runtime is listed at 86 minutes.

Partial Transcript | Daytime Confidential’s DC #598 Best and Worst of 2010 Podcast

Don’t asked me what possessed me to do this when I have a million and two things I should be doing – like my taxes, which are due at the end of the month. :/

Perhaps it’s just that I’m obsessed with compiling a comprehensive listing of everyone’s best and worsts – focusing on LuRe, of course. But regardless, I sat through all 3 hours and 20 minutes of this podcast, which could frequently be called a “hot mess.” For anyone who thinks the Blog Talk Radio interviews have been unprofessional and difficult to listen to, this show easily outdid them in terms of unlistenability.

But, being the devoted LuRe blogger that I am, I sat through the whole darned thing, featuring four DC contributors, and here are the highlights:

 • One pick for Most Tortured Couple: Luke and Reid
 • Two nominations for the Hall of Shame went to OLTL for their handling of Kish and the dismissal of Scott Evans and Brett Claywell; another to soaps in general for their lack of diversity
 • ATWT-affiliated parties swept the Megan McTavish Award for Special Achievement in Serial Drama Dismantling category, with two votes for Chris Goutman, one for David Kreizman (for his subsequent work on All My Children), and one for CBS.
 • One vote, and a second, very vociferous vote for As the World Turns as the Worst Soap of 2010.
 • In the commentary about why ATWT was the worst, Luke and Reid are referred to as the only potential supercouple on the show (and Reid’s death and Luke’s unhappy ending are discussed).

A partial transcript of the bits that might interest the ATWT/LuRe/Kish fandom follow below the jump….

FanFic Update | Simple Gifts Chapters 29: Love – Two; Cyncism – Zip (and Chapter 27-29 Author’s Notes)

I’m reposting the links to Chapter 27 and 28 here because the author’s notes below apply to all three chapters.

Chapter 27: Where Does it Hurt?Just a little fluff for a change

Chapter 28: Shreve Crump & LowLuke receives a mysterious package

Chapter 29: Love – Two; Cynicism – ZipWhat’s in the box, Luke?

If you can’t remember which story this is, or where we are in the storyline, a spoiler-filled summary of Chapters 1-28 follows below:
The entire story’s action so far has taken place in December 2010 (starting with Christmas day) and early January 2011. However, there is extensive use of flashbacks to both canon, made-up scenes both pre- and post-Reid, as well as hybrids. It goes off canon roughly in early August. The story begins at Christmas time when Reid gives Luke a trip to a four-week writer’s retreat in Iowa.

Yes, the boys have made love – of COURSE. I think I know when their first time was, but that flashback has not been played out yet. Yes, they have said “I love you” (chapter 12 Tuesday at Al’s). The boys progressed slowly (per canon) through the summer, dated/had a serious relationship in the autumn, and moved in together in November. When Noah called a few days ago, Luke more or less told him to go stuff it.

Noah left for USC film school in July; there was a Mona Cross arc; Reid is NOT Chief of Staff – Chris is (I definitely know why, but this has not been revealed yet), and Chris’s heart is (and always has been and will be) just fine, thank you very much. Barbara and Henry are together, and Chris and Katie are engaged (Reid is to be "maid" of honor). Luke and Reid have been working together on the surgical wing project (not just neuro).

As of Chapter 29, Luke has now been away for just over two weeks. Fate has conspired to keep the boys from speaking now for about 3 days, giving Reid plenty of time to over-react. It probably feels like MUCH longer, though because those three days are embodied by (so far) over 56,000 words and a dozen chapters posted over a period of half a year!

In the last chapter, Shreve, Crump & Low, a box arrived for Luke, which annoying classmate Bradley identified as being from an upscale Boston jeweler.
Still More Kudos!

And the praise for Luke and Reid continues to roll in….

Reggie Jackson, SoapCentral’s second Two Scoops columnist, today posted his year-end review column. Among highlights:

 • A Breath of Fresh Air: Dr. Reid Oliver
 • Bad Storyline Moves: Killing Reid Oliver

And CBS Soaps In Depth has posted their early (CBS) Emmy Nomination recommendations. Among them:

 • Supporting Actor: Eric Sheffer Stevens. Reid and Luke were a breath of fresh air.

You can see a scan of Soaps In Depth clipping of Eric on NukeGallery here and the rest of the selections here.

And the Bay Area Reporter’s Best & Worst on the Lavender Tube 2010 wrote: “Luke and Reid were off the charts smokin’. Reid was complicated, difficult and incredibly sexy in a harsh kind of way that turned hot when the two were alone together” and “Luke and Reid? Fantastically hot together.” The list included, in unfortunate ironic fashion:

 • Best Gay Male Storyline: As the World Turns, for the Luke, Noah, Mason, and Reid story
 • Worst Gay Male Storyline: As the World Turns, for the Luke, Noah, Mason, and Reid story

News and Updates | 29 December 2010

Can we gloat yet?

It’s about as great a time as possible to be a LuRe fan (that is, given that the show is over). Yet MORE kudos from Nelson Branco and Michael Fairman in their extensive year end Bests and Worsts in Soaps lists. Some highlights from Nelson Branco:

 • BEST NEW SUPER-COUPLE: Luke and Reid, As The World Turns
 • BREAKOUT SUPERSTAR: Eric Sheffer Stevens, As the World Turns

And from Michael Fairman:

 • BEST NEW COUPLE: Luke and Reid – As the World Turns
 • BEST OVERALL PERFORMANCE BY A SUPPORTING ACTOR: Eric Sheffer-Stevens – As the World Turns

I love all the recognition that ESS is getting, but I gotta ask – what about Van? 🙁

Plus, TV Guide Canada’s soaps home page poll this week asks: Which love triangle rocked your world in 2010?

Reid/Luke/Noah, ‘World Turns’ – 4%
Sharon/Nick/Phyllis, ‘Y&R’ – 2%
Lisa/Patrick/Robin, ‘GH’ – 3%
Lara/Ani/Gina, ‘Venice’ – 50%
EJ/Sami/Rafe, ‘Days’ – 3%
Victor/Nikki/Deacon, ‘Y&R’ – 2%
Carly/Bo/Hope, ‘Days’ – 34%
Lily/Holden/Molly, ‘World Turns – 0%
Brenda/Sonny/Carly, ‘GH’ – 1%
Echo/Charlie/Viki, ‘One Life’ – 1%

with 1953 votes cast so far.(Hmmm….maybe I have to give Venice a second chance. I loved Otalia, was neutral on the Venice Season 1 pilot, but they’ve been garnering tons of kudos as well this month!).

Vote in what may be the last poll ever with Luke and Reid in it! It’s on the TV Guide Canada Soaps home page – scroll down, it will be on the left and may take a moment to expand.
