Just a few quickies today:

• FYI – I’m going to go ahead and start posting the episode transcripts en masse. They won’t be edited aside from glaring errors (e.g., I just fixed a scene where Luke’s lines were all labeled “Casey”!) or matched to the clips for now, but I’ve been meaning to update the episode guide and the transcripts are the best reference, so they’re step 1 of the process.
• Yesterday’s New York Times featured an article on ATWT alum, including a(n) (surprising?) update on Van Hansis’s plans (see below the jump)…
• Speaking of Van, We Love Soaps has tweeted that they’ll soon be posting a new interview with Van focusing on his new film, Occupant.
• As for the other half of LuRe, Kate Davies has announced on her blog that she will be posting an exclusive interview with Lefty Loosey Righty Tighty director, James Yaegashi this coming Wednesday and Thursday.

It Gets Better

Last, the ESS’s Crew’s joliepinkyswear posted a link to the following video on the ESS forum thread on the It Gets Better project. The best-publicized American “It Gets Better” videos include ones by well-known, out celebrities like Suze Orman, Neil Patrick Harris, B.D. Wong, and Y&R’s Thom Bierdz (as well as straight supporters and non-celebrities). It also offers an opportunity to “take the pledge” and be counted among those standing up against bullying and you’ll find my name on there – my real life alter ego’s name on there ;).

This one is Canadian-made and it left me speechless (not an easy feat, as you may gather from this blog!). It’s beautiful and it’s heartbreaking. The people in it aren’t celebrities that I recognize, though everyone is identified at the end. I big-time had tears in my eyes at the end. On top of that, it’s really well done with nice production values, music, etc., (though of course, it’s the message that counts). What better have you got to do with your next 12 minutes?

Incidentally, on their contribution page, they report that they have raised $15,700 to date from 94 backers (an average of $167!), which exceeds their “minimum goal”. Having learned just how enthusiastic this fanbase is, they have astutely added a secondary goal of $25,000.

As they say later on on the page:

As you can see, our minimum goal has been reached! Which means that the film will get finished. But as we mentioned during the first stage of fund raising, 15k is the bare bones version of the finished film. These additional funds will not only help us to get the movie finished sooner, it will enable us to put those necessary finishing touches on the project. This includes visual FX, audio sweetening, color correction, and title sequence animation as well as the ability to increase our festival submissions….and even pay for a small theatrical release.

Rumors put the release date as early summer 2011, but this is not by any means confirmed.

Sorry it’s been so long between updates, but RL has been busy again.  A bunch of updates for you, though:

• Eric Sheffer Stevens’s new movie, Lefty Loosey Righty Tighty has not only reached its initial fundraising goal, but they’ve launched their official website and released their trailer.
• Also, screen caps of Eric’s guest stint on The Big C are now available
• The Van Hansis/Walnut Hill School birthday campaign topped 2008 and 2009 contributions combined.
• Doctors without Borders is featuring the Eric Sheffer Stevens campaign as one of their creative fundraising efforts.

• The post-mortems continue, with Terri Columbino commenting in a recent TV Guide interview).
• Jake Silbermann’s Stuffer receives accolades
• Alec Baldwin has a hilarious new video on gay marriage rights out on YouTube

I’ve noticed people continuing to click through for various fundraising activities. It’s come to my attention that the Van Hansis/Walnut Hill link is now broken. I’ve exchanged emails with the Walnut Hill development department and it sounds like their website is undergoing some changes and they are pointing people to their generic giving page (where you can put Van’s name in the “in honor of” box). They wrote:

We will very shortly be sending a letter to Van bringing him up to date on the fund raising initiative and listing all those who have made a donation. We will also communicate  with the donors, assuring them that Van knows who they are and is very grateful for their support of his School.

While we address this situation, please refer any donors to the Walnut Hill Online Giving form. All gifts that are made in honor of Van Hansis will be properly attributed the Van Hansis Sponsorship fund and the donors will be included in future communications with Van. Once we have some more definitive answers on the webpage itself, we will be sure to let you and his other supporters know.
