Reid: The groom is Dr. Hughes’ grandson. Maybe if I show the old blowhard some respect, he’ll give the suppurating cyst to someone else. Katie: Okay, gross

Happy Reidiversary!
The Crew over at EricShefferStevens.com have put together a really nice slideshow of images on their home page in honor of the one year anniversary of Eric’s first air date.

When ATWT introduced Reid Oliver I couldn’t believe some of the things that came out of his mouth. What a pompous arrogant jerk I thought to myself. Then when his softer more gentler and caring side was shown I fell in love.
I couldn’t get enough of Reid and Luke. The chemistry between them was unbelievable.
ATWT really blew it in not realizing they had struck gold with them. The end of their storyline was just awful – extremely heartbreaking.
I do however want to thank ATWT for bringing Reid onto the show. I was a long-time viewer and it made their last few months on the air more enjoyable.
January 19,2010 will always remind me of when one of the best things that ever happened to ATWT occurred.
I have been thinking about this date with sadness, because it reminds me of the “birth” of my favorite ATWT character as well as the demise of ATWT. As a lifelong ATWT viewer, I can’t recall anything as bittersweet as the anniversary of Reid’s first airdate. In the beginning I had no way of knowing the impact his arrival in Oakdale would have on me and many of my fellow viewers. From the moment he set foot in my favorite soap town I was hooked on his blatant sarcasm and rudeness to those around him, but he also had a soft side, as he displayed with Jacob in his first encounter with Katie. The day Reid died I cried and mourned his departure and shared Luke’s grief. Thank you for reminding us. RIP Dr. Reid Oliver and thanks for the many memories.

We should name January 19 “Reid Oliver Day”. 🙂
