Familiar faces make the 2011 AfterElton Hot 100
Despite being off the air since September, our favorite Oakdale duo still retain a place in many hearts as Van, Eric, Jake, and One Life to Live’s Scott Evans all remained on AfterElton’s 2011 Hot 100 list.
Eric Sheffer Stevens will be turning in an unannounced (as in, pretty much no information available on this anywhere prior to the airing of last week’s preview clip) appearance on tonight’s Law and Order: Criminal Intent. Tonight’s Wall Street/financial world-themed ‘The Last Street in Manhattan’will air at 9.00 pm Eastern on USA Networks. USA is featuring the preview on its website for the episode 6 out of the 8 in what is said to be the 10th and final season of the series.

With Eric Sheffer Stevens having TWO shows out this week (Body of Proof on Tuesday evening, and a newly discovered episode of Law and Order: Criminal Intent this coming Sunday – more on that shortly), there has been a lot of interest in locating ways to watch these shows. One of the sites I’ve seen recommended is definitely NOT a good idea, so I thought I would do a post on a topic that I feel very strongly about.
Internet security is a big personal beef of mine. I can’t tell you how many family members have gotten slaps on the wrist from me for passing along urban legends – NO ONE should ever pass along something that sounds too strange to be true unless they PERSONALLY check snopes.com or otherwise Google it – I have received several that claim that “snopes.com” or “cnn” have published reports and they’re just as bogus as the next tall tale (see below for “why not?”).
Similarly, I have posted several times recently (including on both Van’s and Michael Fairman’s Facebook pages) about Facebook scams that try to lure readers into clicking through and willingly (WILLINGLY!) accepting a malicious cookie in order to see the ridiculous promised content (the one that caught my eye was one about a spectacular disaster at Alton Towers, which happens to be an amusement park close enough to where I live that it’s been used for school trips at my child’s school; the other was about seeing who’s viewing your Facebook profile).
I’ve also applied a smackdown on Van’s page to people suggesting all sorts of places to view PSYCH (which I would guess they had not tried out). I posted on Van’s site at the time, and here previously, as well as on the ESSMAH Facebook today that most of these are scams – and many of them are employing highly suspicous practices and should avoided like the plague.
The key is to remember the two key tenets of safe surfing:
There’s no such thing as a free lunch
and
Never, ever surf unprotected!

[spoiler]Wow, definitely NOT Reid – though there’s a moment he takes a sip of coffee at the right edge of the screen and it reminded me of Reid eating cookies at Emma’s on August 9th before the Molden wedding).
The other observation is that there sure was a LOT of Kevin Rahm (and not so much Eric :(). I saw a lot of situational set-up for their romantic relationships, but personally, not much chemistry. In the meantime, Aisha Dee seemed to be the stronger of the two daughters (I barely noticed Kristi Lauren’s Sophie) and Aisha certainly has that bitchy mean girl snarl look down pat! Yow, is her character nasty!
Like Silent House, Twitter responses so far are ALL OVER THE PLACE with love it and hate it tweets. Should be an interesting 13 weeks….[/spoiler]
ETA, 17 May 9.16am GMT: It’s been virtually impossible to keep up with the deluge of news reports (which are largely quotes of what was presumably FOX’s original press release), but the Zap2It has one of the few original thoughts I’ve seen on the show (as posted on the Chicago Tribune’s site):
This season, FOX met success with "Raising Hope," a comedy about hilariously bad parenting — and they’re sticking to it with "I Hate My Teenage Daughter." "That’s a title, not a statement," jokes FOX entertainment president Kevin Reilly. Don’t worry… the show looks to be much funnier than he is. For the coveted post-"X-Factor" Wednesday spot, Reilly says that they sought out a sitcom with a "relatable hook, with a strong female appeal at its core, and a live audience to match the energy coming off the X-Factor."
…The preview shown at the Upfront presentation relied heavily on physical comedy…but we’re intrigued by the romantic tension between (Jaime) Pressly’s character and Kevin Rahm, who plays her daughter’s father’s brother. It’s awkwardly adorable.
Four chances to catch Eric live on TV this week (if you count the two re-showings of his 2007 appearance on Law and Order: Criminal Intent)?!? I don’t think we had this many opportunities to see him when he had a regular gig on ATWT! And don’t forget, AfterElton’s Hot 100 is due to be announced next Monday, May 23rd!
