Reid: You know what you’re doing? You’re using your hospital privileges to settle a personal grievance.
Bob: I am? Where would I learn a thing like that?
Reid examines Noah and decides to go ahead with the surgery, but just before surgery, he realizes that multiple surgeries will be required and he throws in the towel. Noah blames Luke for driving Reid away. While attempting to leave Memorial, Reid crashes Luke’s car into the back of Kim’s car.

Okay, I keep promising myself that I’m going to stop posting news and get back to essays, fanfics, etc, but then new stuff comes up! Today’s news….
SoapOperaDigest has a snap poll asking readers to complete the sentence – The final episode of ATWT was…Among the choices is: Awful. No big group scenes? No happy ending for Luke? This option is currently barely in the lead (over Perfect. Loved how uplifting it was! and Just okay. I would have preferred seeing more returning faves) with 850 votes cast.
On a lighter note, this is your last chance to cast your vote in the SOS Pulse for Van Hansis and for LuRe as best couple (hard to argue Eric was best actor in the last week considering Reid was dead and buried!). They have confirmed on this week’s ballot that This is the final week to vote for your favorite As the World Turns stars. Polls should have closed yesterday, but the ballot was unavailable for several hours, so they’ve extended polling through today, Tuesday 9/21 4pm Eastern Time (although the page is often active for several hours thereafter). If you enjoy voting, I’d recommend you go vote now – this is the last chance. 🙁
Today is the first weekday PA (or maybe it should be PATWT) – Post As the World Turns. Never again will I be rushing to feed my kids while trying to find a functional live stream at 7pm in the evening. For that, I will be forever grateful. *sigh*
Just a few things to clarify: a few people have asked, so I just want to confirm that this site isn’t going anywhere soon. I expect to keep updating it until it’s “finished” (which means the episode guide and transcripts will be completed; plus I have a bunch of article ideas and videos and fanfics to finish, so there will be new material for awhile to come) and thereafter I will keep it up and running as long as people continue to discover Luke and Reid and to stop by for a visit (which I hope will be forever).
How international is the LuRe fanbase? I had counted hits on my fanfics and YouTube channel for 30-some countries and estimated that the overseas following could be 30-40% overseas (outside of US and Canada). But just took a look at some of the detailed stats for this site: so far there have been visitors from 105 countries and territories (closer to 40% overseas).
Just more evidence that love is universal and “color”blind.
UPDATE, 23 Oct: The short story is there is no need to panic. CBS and P&G/Telenext (P&G’s TV production division) announced in mid-September that they would be removing videos from YouTube/Hulu as of 21st October. This applied only to their own videos from YouTube and Hulu and not fan channels like ADL’s or HappyInChintz’s Reid Oliver Story.
For ATWT, when I looked, they had only posted parts of 2007 and 2008, so no big loss. I just checked (as of 23 Oct) and they haven’t pulled the vids from YouTube yet.
This question keeps popping up on message forums and Facebook, so I’ve moved it to its own permanent reference page which you can now find here.
In the meantime, there are two newer videos making the rounds. First, CBS released the tribute video shown at the Paley Center event in August. Although this has been available on the CBS site for several days, it was unavailable to those of us who lived overseas. It has since been posted by a few fans, including this one here, from OakdaleNow:

Also, on Friday, CBS released a video of some scenes deleted from the finale. Having watched it, I have to say, I am really glad these were the ones abandoned. They largely just pile on the happy endings for questionably deserving characters, making the unfairness of the ending for Luke that much more glaring. Plus, they are definitely characters more on the periphery.
Specifically, it just piles on the gifts for Craig – Lily forgives him at the drop of a pin AND Rosanna says she’s not giving him a chance, but flirtatiously agrees to drinks with him. Parker and Faith flirt, and Faith (like Chris) continues to act like a self-absorbed, irresponsible, undeserving idiot…and they’re still cousins. Ewwwww…

On Soap Central’s Live call-in show, Two Scoops writer Jennifer Biller was asked what story has generated the most interest and her response? No question: Luke and Noah, Luke and Reid. Interestingly, both columnists generally liked the ending, pointing out the lack of story for Lisa and Emma being the two glaring omissions. It definitely felt like they did not have much airtime.
The new Michael Fairman interview with Van Hansis is up. He’s put a note in the header of his website that the promised second surprise is for CarJack fans.
ESS/Doctors without Borders is up to $18,200 and the Van Hansis Birthday Tribute, which raised $7255in 2008 and $8487 in 2009 for Van’s alma mater, the Walnut Hills School for the Arts, is up to $13,400 as of late last night/early this morning. Organizers are hoping to match the 2008/2009 total of $15742 combined before Van’s birthday next week (September 25th). This fan base can do it…
