Reid: You. You look important.
Bob: Excuse me?
Reid: If there’s such a thing as an operating room in this hospital, I need one now. Along with your top neuro team, a Midas, B1 foot plate, and an IGS system, which I pray to God is not considered an antique.
Bob: Who are you? What are you doing in my hospital?

Countdown Clocks

UPDATE: 9.12am EDT, 10 August 2010. I am so glad to note that this needs to be updated again, but I have yet to get the timestamp from yesterday’s episode.  Stay tuned!

UPDATE: 2.51pm EDT, 3 August 2010. I am thrilled to report that after an interminable drought (2 months, 3 days, 49 minutes, some unknown number of seconds, to be exact, but who’s counting?), I was able to reset the kiss clock this afternoon. The consummation clock is coming up on three long months and still ticking, but at least we  have a new kiss to cheer about. May many more be coming. Soon.

ORIGINAL POST:

I was hoping it wouldn’t come to this, but LuRe fans are getting antsy (at LRO, the Kissing thread just keeps getting longer and longer), and references to the wait (for them and us) are everywhere you look in LuRe fandom: it was time. So, without further ado, I present to you the LuRe countdown clocks:

[fergcorp_cdt]

A few notes on when the clocks were started. Both clocks are based on the initial East Coast broadcast times. Aug 3 UPDATE: FYI it appears that this clock applet uses your local clock and does not register timezones. So, if you are viewing from a timezone other than the Eastern USA, you will need to adjust the calculations. So, let’s say the last kiss was at 2.51pm EDT. If you are in Europe (GMT +1) the timer will interpret the kiss as having taken place at 2.51pm local time, so all droughts durations will be overestimated by 6 hours. If you’re in California, all droughts will be underestimated by 3 hours. Aug 10 UPDATE: Never mind. I was misreading the dates.

For the kissing clock – I started it at the end of the second part of the Babbling kiss (on Black Monday, 31 May 2010 2:02:00.4 EDT), when Luke makes the mistake of opening his eyes and seeing Noah out on the porch of the LilyPad.  I personally believe there was contact in the scene in the breakroom after Noah decks Luke (the birth of "doc block"), but in general, no one seems to be counting that as a legitimate kiss, so "babbling" (kisses 4/5) wins. Aug 3 UPDATE: Time between the Babbling and Encouragement Kisses: 2 months, 3 days, 49 minutes, some unknown number of seconds.

As for the consummation clock, there are so many times this could have been started, but I went with the scene at the beginning of the May 6th episode (2:12:31.7 EDT) when Reid says to Luke "You know what you’re doing and so do I" and Luke (very briefly, but definitively) dives back in for another kiss before completely freaking out. To me, this is the first time they both openly acknowledged that they want to have sex, so it seemed as good a starting point as any.

So, join me in raising a glass to clock-stoppage/resetting.  May it come soon. And frequently. Like, daily.

Thanks to stacerace76 at LRO for the timestamps for the two original clips.
